What to know before you sign up

Hims is on this page because readers search for it, and it is marked not recommended because of its record, not its prices. On September 9, 2025 the FDA wrote to Hims & Hers Health, Inc. that claims on hims.com for compounded semaglutide, including "Same active ingredient as Ozempic and Wegovy", were false or misleading and made the products misbranded; a companion letter went to the Hers brand the same day. On July 29, 2026 the FTC, joined by Utah and by California through Los Angeles County Counsel, sued the company over sharing sensitive health data with advertising platforms and over its billing and cancellation practices. That case is pending, and a complaint is an allegation, not a finding.

The storefront today looks different from the one the FDA reviewed. Every treatment card is a brand product: Wegovy pill and pen, Zepbound, Foundayo, Ozempic and Mounjaro, from $149 a month for the pills, and the word compounded does not appear on the weight-loss page. The $39 first month is the membership, which renews at $149 and is billed separately from the medication; canceling the membership also cancels the medication plan. Whether you need a video visit depends on your state, GLP-1s are "not yet available in all 50 states", and the membership fee is not FSA or HSA eligible while the medication fee is.

What did the FDA say about Hims?

In a warning letter dated September 9, 2025, the FDA said it had reviewed hims.com in August 2025 and found compounded semaglutide marketed with claims including "Same active ingredient as Ozempic and Wegovy" and "Clinically proven ingredients". Because compounded drugs are not FDA-approved, the agency called those claims false or misleading and the products misbranded under sections 502(a) and 502(bb) of the FDCA. A second letter went to the Hers brand the same day.

How much does Hims weight loss cost?

Two charges. The Hims Weight Loss Membership is $39 for the first month and renews at $149 a month, billed separately and required for any medication. The medication is on top: on September 23, 2026 the weight-loss page listed the Wegovy pill, Foundayo pill and Ozempic pill from $149 a month, the Wegovy pen and Ozempic from $199, Zepbound from $299, and Mounjaro or Zepbound at list price of $1,899. The membership fee is not FSA or HSA eligible.

Does Hims still sell compounded semaglutide?

Not on the pages we read. As of September 23, 2026 every treatment on the Hims weight-loss page is a brand-name product and the word compounded does not appear there, in the FAQ or in the Terms. The FDA letter concerned compounded semaglutide marketed in August 2025, and a March 2026 company release said Hims planned to offer compounded GLP-1s to a limited set of customers when a provider finds it necessary, so check the product name on your prescription.

Is the FTC case against Hims decided?

No. The complaint was filed July 29, 2026 and updated August 31, 2026, in the Northern District of California, with the Utah Division of Consumer Protection and the People of the State of California (through Los Angeles County Counsel) as co-plaintiffs. It alleges that Hims shared health information with advertising platforms and misled customers about billing and cancellation. It is pending, and allegations are not findings.
